Kensington Summer Camp is a project based learning program that helps build a sense of wonder in our young children as they connect to the great outdoors. Camp Kensington encourages curiosity and fosters environmental friendliness for our students of all ages.
Summer curriculum at Kensington consists of ideas and projects driven by the children and teachers’ interests. The outcomes are extraordinary explorations that are both sensory-based and steeped in literacy.
For example, in “The Magic of the Forest,” naturally found items lead to creative investigations of trees, bark, stumps and dirt. This manipulation of natural resources helps children understand the outdoor world around them and provides an ever-changing, sensory-filled learning environment.
Outdoor Water Days twice a week adds to the summer fun at Camp Kensington! Our KS Car Wash and The Kensington Mud Kitchens are favorite destinations for our campers all summer long! Water Days also make a perfect backdrop for individual and collective big art such as mural painting, creating an exciting and often calming artistic experience.
Through our Kensington way, the learning never stops in our summer sessions! By taking the classroom outside and adapting and pivoting our learning, we can shift the frame of reference. Everything you can do inside, you can do outside, too!
