Kensington Events

At the heart of every Kensington tradition is a meaningful experience connecting families, children, and school.

Traditions play an important role in childhood, providing opportunities to bond and grow, and creating memories that extend beyond the preschool years. Traditions at Kensington School are highly anticipated events celebrating the seasons, family, friends, and the magic of childhood.

Family Thanksgiving Potluck
An annual and eagerly anticipated holiday event, our Family Thanksgiving Potlucks bring teachers, parents, and children together to enjoy a meal together full of many types of cuisine.

Musical Programs
Music is integral to Kensington School’s curriculum. Presented by children in the Preschool and older classrooms, our highly anticipated seasonal programs are not to be missed. The children love to share their musical voices with costumes and props and bring seasonal celebrations to life.

Kensington’s musical programs begin with a parent-child singalong for our youngest children and conclude with our scripted plays, creating age-appropriate experiences to sing, dance, and dramatically perform with guidance and encouragement from their teachers. Children sequentially gain confidence and poise as they perform for their parent audiences through the years.

Sugarplum
A magical musical highlight of the winter season for all PreKindergarten students, parents come together with staff the evening before to transform the school into a winter wonderland of lights and wonder. Such a surprise awaits the children upon entering the school the following day! A forest of glittering trees creates the perfect backdrop to their holiday pageant.

The Wizard of Oz Spring Program
Parents are invited to join in the celebration of the growth and accomplishments of each child as they move from Preschool to Kindergarten. Their presentation of The Wizard of Oz is truly a graduation tradition to be remembered!

Celebrating the Seasons

Seasonal celebrations are joyfully reflected in the displays of child-created artwork throughout the school, as well as in outdoor activities.

Kensington School welcomes Spring with “The Egg to Chick” project and butterfly gardens; snowmen in the play yard welcome the first winter snows; little gardeners dig the soil to plant marigolds, tomatoes, pumpkins, and sunflowers in the Kensington Organic Garden. As the children mature each year, their participation in these traditional events increases and with it their delight in being part of Kensington School.
